What is it about?

Paper summarises knowledge about so called Wave-Based control technique developed mainly by prof. William O'Connor from Ireland. It explains and shows at first the alternative wave model, its equivalence and construction according to multi-body model (3 variants, the transformation is not unique). Then the wave-based control is introduced and its properties examined. There are found some conceptual and stability issues against current state of the art. Some examples and also experiment is presented.

Why is it important?

Stability and some design aspects of so called wave-based control were treated incorrectly up to now. Derivation and correspondence of so called wave model with multi-body model are presented.

Perspectives

Explains so called wave-based control in broader context, rigorously treats its boundaries and shows some examples.
