What is it about?

It is about an average current controller (ACC) which can accurately regulate the light-emitting diode (LED) forward current for lighting applications.

Why is it important?

For the high-quality lighting applications requiring an accurate and stable LED luminance, it is important to accurately regulate average forward current of LEDs.

Perspectives

This letter proposes an ACC using a charge sharing method for an LED lamp driver to accurately regulate the LED forward current in lighting lamps by cancelling out the sampling error caused by a delay of blanking time. Using this idea, the luminance accuracy of LED is dramatically enhanced.
