What is it about?

In the proposed equalizer, each cell needs only one MOSFET and the adjacent cells share the transformer winding. The voltage balance is automatically realized by using a pair of complementary control signals with a fixed duty cycle. What’s more, no sensing circuit is required.

Why is it important?

Its highlights are low cost,small size and simple control. It is an improvement of the work in 'An automatic equalizer based on forward-flyback converter for series-connected battery strings'.


For the battery equalizers without sensors , the operation is uncontrolled.And why the equalizers can balance the battery should be analyzed in detail. So we proved that the voltage differences of the cells will converge to zero by the mathematical model.
