What is it about?
This article discusses a method to find the optimal size of an energy storage system (ESS) that minimizes the costs. The ESS can be integrated into a microgrid that is connected to other renewable energy sources. The ESS reduces the total costs because it charges in low-price periods and discharges in high-price periods. Also, it increases the microgrid reliability and availability. This article compares the microgrid reliability before and after integrating the ESS.
