What is it about?

The present study aimed to examine mVEMP responses in children and compare these results with those of adults, using both air- and bone-conduction modes of stimulation which helps in understanding the vestibulo-trigeminal pathway in an healthy individual.

Why is it important?

While there is available information on cVEMPs and oVEMPs, evidence on mVEMP responses in children is lacking. Additionally, the function of mVEMPs in healthy children compared to adults remains unknown. So, normative data is utmost important for different age groups.

Perspectives

This article will help in understanding the Masseteric Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials (mVEMP) by assessing masseter muscles with vestibular inputs which have been understood to be involved in refined voluntary motor control and postural stability of the head (Lund & Olsson, 1983; Miralles,1987) which is crucial in development of children.
