What is it about?

This article explains the use of Online Program Management (OPM) companies to establish and manage online programs. Both perceived benefits and drawbacks of OPMs are outlined and information about OPM use in Communication Science in Disorders (CSD) is described.

Why is it important?

OPMs are a prevalent way to establish and manage online programs in higher education. This is a relatively new practice in CSD so it is important for faculty and administrators of CSD academic programs to understand the potential benefits and drawbacks of outsourcing online programs to an OPM.

Perspectives

Drs. Peters and Knight thoroughly enjoyed collaborating on the development of this manuscript. This provided an opportunity for Dr. Peters to expand her knowledge about CSD higher education and for Dr. Knight to explore the business aspects of higher education.
