Why is it important?

Many patients who suffer a brain injury experience negative changes to their voice function and language skills. These changes have severe implications for work, social life, and every-day communication and function. Regaining voice function is therefore an important component in a rehabilitation effort to help patients.

Perspectives

Having seen the impact of traumatic brain injury up close, I find the topic both professionally and personally important. The negative impacts of not having a voice cannot be overstated. This study is one in a series of research projects exploring how novel techniques build upon principles from Complete Vocal Technique are being developed to target voice quality rehabilitation to help patients not only get a voice back, but get their voice back.
