What is it about?

High-resolution pharyngeal manometry (HRPM) is an emerging technology that shows promise as both an adjuvant diagnostic and therapeutic tool in oropharyngeal dysphagia management. This manuscript serves as an overview of the utility of HRPM as a biofeedback device for dysphagia treatment.

Why is it important?

The dysphagia clinician can utilize HRPM to increase patient accuracy of targeted interventions, evaluate the efficacy of those interventions and improve patient outcomes.

Perspectives

This article is the first to share our high resolution pharyngeal manometry biofeedback treatment protocol. My hope is that this will positively impact both clinicians and their patients by sharing a method that utilizes assistive technology during dysphagia treatment to monitor efficacy and improve treatment outcomes.
