What is it about?

With aging, our hearing deteriorates. A lot of people however do not take up hearing aids. The reasons for this are only partly known. This study aims to shed more light on the factors that can predict who will purchase a hearing aid and who will not, after having finished a hearing aid evaluation period. We show that, of the examined factors, only a more severe degree of objectively measured hearing loss is predictive of purchase. It is suggested that other factors that act during the evaluation period (and that were not measured in the current study) would hold this predictive value.
