Why is it important?
It is the first available screener for monolingual children speaking Spanish. It is fast, low-cost and effective
Perspectives
Given the high prevalence of Specific Language Impairment (SLI) in the world, it is important to identify children since very early on in Spanish-speaking countries. SLI has gone invisible given that grammatical difficulties are not easily detected. Many children with SLI struggle using language and further develop academic problems if they are not helped since preschool.
