What is it about?

The spirit/philosophy of prescriptive approach, rooted in the medical model, seems to have been the center of clinical conceptualizations and research endeavors in our field. In this publication, in the spirit of promoting our clients' autonomy, I have tried to conceptualize descriptive and exploratory approaches as additional philosophies and explained each with examples.

Why is it important?

Incorporating prescriptive, descriptive and exploratory approach to service delivery can promote our clients' autonomy, neurodiversity affirming care, and life participation.

Perspectives

Adopting descriptive and exploratory approaches in addition to the prescriptive approach to our service delivery will enhance our clients' autonomy and provide a more comprehensive framework for our educational, clinical and research practices.
