What is it about?

Values represent what is emphasized or prioritized by a person or system. This work identifies values in the system of best-practice audiology in the United States. We found that subjective benefit, professional duties, and self-efficacy are central to audiology.

Why is it important?

With a comprehensive list of values in audiology, we have built a foundation to compare values in competing hearing healthcare systems. The introduction of new systems like teleaudiology and over-the-counter hearing aids threaten to challenge values in the traditional system. This work facilitates values comparisons between hearing healthcare systems.
