What is it about?

The paper studies the problem of contamination of wastewater with neonicotinoids. Thus, a new solid phase extraction method was developed using cartridges with the HLB polymer phase and the compounds were determined by LC-MS / MS.

Why is it important?

The study evaluated the degree of elimination of neonicotinoids from waste water treatment plants, observing that these insecticides remain in the effluents evacuated in the natural emissary (Dambovita river)

Perspectives

Considering that the use of 3 neonicotinoids (clothianidin, imidacloprid and thiamethoxam) was banned in the EU in 2018 (except for use in greenhouses) this article proves its importance and scientific approach.
