What is it about?

Ursolic acid is a 6-6-6-6-6 penta cyclic triterpenic acid extractable from plant sources i.e leaves of Plumeria rubra, and itself it is a anti cancer molecule. We study the self-assembly properties of Ursolic acid in different organic and aqueous organic system yielding vesicular morphology. Entrapment and release of anticancer drug doxorubicin studies carried out in physiological buffer at pH 7.2.

Why is it important?

Ursolic acid itself a renewable organic molecule that maintained the principle of green chemistry. secondly it spontaneously undergoes self-assembly in different solvents yielding gel so it has a importance in gel chemistry. As it yielding vesicular morphology and entrap and release drug molecules so it can be applies as a drug carrier.

Perspectives

Utilization of plant derived chemicals instead of petroleum based chemicals which is depleting fast, have gained renewed interest in recent years, because of their renewable nature, biocompatibility and easy availability from nature without multistep synthetic efforts. Application of such type of bio-active molecules for development of mankind.
