What is it about?

Effect of directional hydrogen bonds of 1,3-benzenedialdoxime was utilized to generate anion assisted assemblies generating dendrimer-like structure is revealed. The differentiation between chloride assisted and fluoride assisted assemblies in terms of ionic size is explained. Assemblies of oximate with oxime was discussed.

Why is it important?

Generation of non-covalently linked dendrimer-like assemblies are as important as covalently linked dendrimers. This study reveals the role of anions in such process and provides distinction of different anions by oxime derivative.

Perspectives

This opens avenues to generate various non-covelently linked dendrimers in addition to directional hydrogen bond, interplay of weak interactions; size, basicity of anions and conformation of host matters.
