What is it about?
EWG is electron-withdrawing-group that will lower the electron density of the compound，thus might allowing a following nucleophilic reaction. Therefore，when the EWG is settled on the aromatics，a desirable nucleophilic addition might occur，that will break the aromaticity to form a dearomatized cyclic structures. Therefore such a strategy is a useful tool to access the complicated structures.

Why is it important?
This strategy provides an alternative powerfull approach to access the complicated cyclic structures，which would be an important or potential lead compound or useful mmaterial
