Water splitting for renewable fuel

What is it about?

In water splitting, water oxidation for O2 production is the rate determining step and the study is talking about how to control the materials synthesis for high photocatalytic activity.

Why is it important?

By both modelling and experimental work, an extremely efficient photocatalyst has been developed with controlled facets, leading to a nearly unity quantum yield for water oxidation.
