What is it about?

Silicon is by far the most commercialized semiconductor in solar energy applications. However, the application of silicon in severe conditions (i.e., gas generation, acidic conditions, high I-V, etc.) generates an oxide layer on the surface which impedes further use. This work developed and optimized a protection/Co-catalyst layer for photocatalytic hydrogen generation reaction (HER).
