In this piece we identify wild relatives of crop plants as key resources for genes and plant-associated microbes that could benefit adaptation, and call for their preservation.

Climate change is not only threatening crop productivity but is driving the loss of many plant species. Once these species are gone we lose the opportunity to study them and their unique features.
