What is it about?

This study uses a combination of a multi-channel conduit, essentially a tube with multiple lumens, and gene therapy to improve recovery from a spinal cord injury. Here a non-viral delivery methods is used to increase the production of neurotrophin-3 in the surrounding cells of the injured cord. Neurotrophin-3 is growth factor/molecule which has been shown to increase the number of regenerating axons in the cord and to promote their survival during regeneration.
