Why is it important?

PTSD and Substance Use Disorder are highly related. Being able to treat both simultaneously and efficiently is an important advance and is worthy of additional investigation to determine if this should be recommended as the standard of care.

Perspectives

Written Exposure Therapy is easy to deliver and a cost-effective treatment. Our preliminary findings suggest it can be implemented within a 28 day residential program and the pilot results suggest a larger controlled study is warranted.
