We retrospectively evaluated the prevalence of childhood trauma and types of trauma in Colombia.

Why is it important?
In Colombia, 99.8% of the evaluated sample presented events of trauma during childhood. The repercussions on the mental health of Colombia are not yet clear, but public policies should be created to reduce exposure to these events.
Perspectives
The implications of these widespread childhood traumatic events in Colombia must be greatly affecting the mental health of Colombians.
