What is it about?
A single approach to studying technology in families with young children can limit how effective research in this area is for understanding how technology impacts development and providing recommendations to families. We propose here considering multiple perspectives about technology use in families with young children to have a more comprehensive understanding of the issue.

Why is it important?
Technology is widely available and there are different recommendations for how families should and should not use technology; however, some of the research that leads to these recommendations can be limited based on the way technology is considered within families. This work hopes to develop a more comprehensive approach that will help researchers to conduct studies that can have outcomes, such as policy recommendations or guidance for families, that is more practical and feasible.
