What is it about?
This review synthesizes growing social neuroscience research on intergroup contact with social psychological theory to highlight potential mechanisms underlying effects of contact on social cognition, such as improved cross-race face recognition. Appealing to researchers across disciplines interested in contact-based interventions, this review provides new insights in intergroup contact theory afforded by social neuroscience methods and outlines future directions for deepening our understanding of how intergroup contact shapes social cognition and behavior.
