This study explored psychotherapy with people in jails and found that when therapists showed positive cultural humility, meaning they were perceived as being more open, genuine, curious, and humble, therapy outcomes suffered.

Why is it important?
This is study is important because there are very few naturalistic studies of psychotherapy in jails. In addition virtually all previous studies have indicated that therapist expressions of positive cultural humility, which is a key part of the multicultural orientation framework, enhances therapy outcomes.
