What is it about?
After a brain injury, people are often confused and disoriented. This confusion and disorientation can interfere with participation in treatment which makes recovery harder. We found that available strategies to address confusion and disorientation were complicated, expensive, and impractical. To address these barriers to recovery from brain injury, we developed a simple, easy-to-use, accessible, and personalized tool called Reorientation Script.

Why is it important?
Reorientation Script unites the patient, family, and healthcare team to maximize the patient's benefit from brain injury rehabilitation. We have observed that using Reorientation Script can result in increased patient satisfaction, better quality of life for patients and families, and briefer, less expensive hospital stays.
Perspectives
We created Reorientation Script to help the patients that we serve. Our goal with this paper was to spotlight common barriers to brain injury rehabilitation such as confusion and unawareness. We believe that cost-effective and easy-to-use solutions such as Reorientation Script are more likely to be used by healthcare professionals and so reach more of the patients and families who stand to benefit.
