What is it about?

This study investigates the role of impaired control over alcohol consumption in non-dependent drinkers. The study demonstrated that participants with greater self-reported impaired control also showed greater consumption of alcohol and subjective responses during a human lab IV alcohol self-administration session, as well as the response impulsivity trait measure of positive urgency. Given that these measures are associated with increased risk for alcohol use disorder, impaired control may be an important etiological factor and target for intervention for alcohol use disorder.
