Why is it important?
Previous behavioral studies show that music listening enhances attention and working memory in both healthy and clinical populations. However, how music listening engages brain functional networks remains elusive due to inconsistent results from previous findings.
Perspectives
Music listening leads to an increase of activation in ventral attention, somatomotor, default, dorsal attention, frontoparietal and limbic networks. This study provides evidence that music listening can help regulate the disordered brain network organization in people with neurological disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and Alzheimer’s Disease.
