Why is it important?

Our findings revealed that top-down rather than bottom-up attentional control may account for the individual difference associated with fitness level during cognitive control processing. Thus, maintaining a high level of aerobic fitness may be associated with most efficient brains.

Perspectives

Considering that cognitive control plays important role in everyday tasks including professional, academic, and social environments, we hope this article will help motivate people to be more physically active and maintain higher level of aerobic fitness.
