What is it about?
This study represents a pioneering exploration of how masculinity contingency threat and boost moderate the relationship between internalized heteronormativity and heterosexual identity management. Internalized heteronormativity was positively linked to both heterosexual self-presentation and marital intentions, with masculinity contingency threat intensifying the former and masculinity contingency boost amplifying the latter. These findings highlight how cultural and gender norms shape identity strategies among Chinese sexual minority men.
