What is it about?

This paper is about the potential public health consequences of exposure to the novel coronavirus and it's associated disease: COVID-19. We present data that repeated media exposure - and exposure with graphic images - may have deleterious implications for long term physical and mental health.

Why is it important?

During an unprecedented crisis, people turn to the media to stay informed. While this is critical to making appropriate decisions regarding risks and health protective behavior, high levels of media exposure may have adverse effects on health and thus judicious media exposure is recommended.

Perspectives

I hope this article informs people of the critical benefits of media exposure while still providing information warning about the danger of high levels of repeated exposure.
