What is it about?
Which situations in romantic relationships elicit ambivalence (i.e., simultaneously positive AND negative feelings) toward a romantic partner? Across four studies, we show that experiencing romantic jealousy or perceiving that one's partner is romantically jealous is linked to simultaneous positive and negative evaluations of the partner, which are in turn associated with the experience of "mixed feelings" toward them.

Why is it important?
Although ambivalence is a relatively common experience in romantic relationships, it has been associated with an array of negative outcomes - such as feeling less satisfied in the relationship or feeling more stressed. By highlighting romantic jealousy as one of the potential elicitors of ambivalent feelings toward a romantic partner, we advance our understanding of this influential state in romantic relationships.
Perspectives
I hope that this article sheds light on romantic jealousy as a complex emotional experience in romantic relationships that might elicit many different, and sometimes conflicting, feelings toward one's partner.
