What is it about?
Grit is a construct that has received much attention over the last decade, despite it being measured poorly by the original Grit-S scale developed to measure it. We show that people of different ages and in different culture respond differently to the Grit-S. We present information about a new measure that better captures grit's definition.

Why is it important?
Grit became a very popular construct despite not being thoroughly vetted by research. Our study adds to the growing body of research showing that the Grit-S is a poor measure and the grit construct is not particularly unique.
Perspectives
It is important that supposedly new constructs in psychology get tested by a variety of researchers in order to determine the properties of the construct. As research on grit has progressed more and more research psychologists (including our team) question what it adds to our understanding of personality.
