Why is it important?
This study suggests that men and women use a mixed strategy of selecting ideal long- and short-term characteristics when choosing their actual romantic partners, which vary according to participants’ sex, available resources, and their culture. The research highlights that although environmental differences, such as socioeconomic status, may influence mate choice and preferences, culture appears to be a stronger factor.
