What is it about?

We conducted an analysis of two years of data from nearly 600 families in a home visitation intervention in a Zulu community in South Africa. Three main findings emerged: 1. We found that to get to the highest levels of home stimulation, families needed (a) parental hope + (b) consistent reading and playing habits + (c) regular visits from the NGO. 2.To have a highly stimulating home learning environment, children need investment from all three: NGO, parents, and the parents' support system. 3. Caregivers with the lowest support system benefited the most from extra visits as long as they committed to reading and playing with their kids.
