What is it about?
Queer, transgender, and nonbinary People of Color (QTNB-POC) experience distinct forms of internalized stress, but this is not documented in the literature. We interviewed 34 QTNB-POC and found that QTNB-POC experienced nuanced forms of internalized stress that were harmful to their mental health.

Why is it important?
Our findings show the unique nature of internalized stress for QTNB-POC that can be targeted in mental health interventions. Policymakers can also target larger structures (e.g., policies, legislation, organizations) that may increase the risk of internalized stress for QTNB-POC.
Perspectives
Interviewing the QTNB-POC participants and hearing their stories was an honor. I hope that the article is able to highlight their complex experiences and advocate for policy change.
