What is it about?
This article focuses on paternal involvement, i.e. the involvement of fathers in the life of their children in the context of immigration. Over the past few decades, research has shown that fathers are increasingly involved in their children's development and well-being from an early age. But very little is known about immigrant fathers. The results of this study therefore indicate that the father, in an immigrant situation, is involved in the care, emotional support, play and socialization of his child. We emphasize, moreover, that this involvement also depends on the integration of the father himself in this new environment. Finally, when the father reconciles the values of his country of origin with those of Quebec, he participates more in the development of his child.

Why is it important?
Our study is different in that it relates the father's modes of adaptation in an immigration situation to his ability to take care of his child, to be present for him. It is therefore important to support fathers in their integration into the host society for the well-being of the whole family.
Perspectives
I hope that this article, which is part of my doctoral research, will lead to greater attention being paid to immigrant fathers. Indeed, several factors can influence their adaptation and that of their child. Services and activities should be developed to accompany them in this sometimes complex process.
