What is it about?

In this study, we proposed a new method of propensity score modeling for ordinal data called piecewise propensity score modeling (PPSA). We also compared the method to the existing marginal mean weighting through stratification (MMW-S) procedure that is normally used to do propensity score modeling for multiple categories. The results showed that PPSA did not outperform MMW-S.

Why is it important?

MMW-S is shown to be the current leading method for handling propensity score modeling with ordinal data. This article strengthens' researchers confidence in MMW-S and prevents anyone else from investigating a method similar to PPSA.

Perspectives

This is the second time I have created a new analysis procedure and the second time that my procedure was less effective than existing methods. I'm a much better applied data analyst than a theorist.
