What is it about?

Managers and customers often expect workers to be "ideal workers" in that they are always available and ready to work. During the COVID-19 pandemic, workers in lower-paying, customer-facing positions were expected not only to be available but also to take on physical risk. This paper examines the tactics workers used to navigate these risks and offers practical recommendations for these workers.
