What is it about?
This article points out that evidence from the Global South, specifically Latin America, challenges some of the tenets of developmental psychology, including the universality of attachment (as posited by attachment theory), and the developmental task of gaining independence during adolescence.

This is critical for constructing a developmental psychology that accurately represents the worldwide diversity of human development.
Perspectives
My perspective is that we need more studies that challenge received knowledge that originates primarily in the Global North in order to provide a more accurate and inclusive psychology of human nature.
