Why is it important?
Addiction providers tend to give little attention to the nutritional implications of opioid addiction. Nutritional interventions are rarely incorporated into treatment plans. This article has the potential to serve as a guide for drug treatment providers to make more informed nutritional recommendations to their clients.
Perspectives
I hope this article is helpful for drug treatment providers and can assist rehabilitation programs in their efforts to treat opioid addiction more holistically. Treatment programs may wish to consider the issues raised in this paper before launching nutritional programs at their facility.
