What is it about?
This book presents a comprehensive approach for understanding, assessing, and treating concussion. It argues that, contrary to popular belief, a one-size-fits-all approach to concussion does not work, and that a comprehensive assessment including risk factors, clinical interview, and test results can inform more effective and active approaches to treating this injury. This resource is essential reading for those who want to better understand, assess, or treat concussion, including medical doctors, psychologists, physical therapists, athletic trainers, students, parents, and more.

Why is it important?
Concussion affects everyone- athletes, military, civilians; and young and old alike. However, concussion is not something to be feared, rather it is an injury that can be treated using a clinical profiles-based, targeted approach.
Perspectives
I coach youth sports and have kids who play sports. My wife had a concussion recently just standing on the sidelines. I have had several concussions myself while playing soccer and surfing. I am sure many of you have a similar familiarity with concussion. We should take this ubiquitous injury seriously and make sure it is properly evaluated and treated using a clinical profiles approach. After all, there are many different knee injuries- each requiring different treatments- so why would we expect there to be only one type of concussion with only one type of treatment.
