What is it about?

Acupoint tapping is developing a robust evidence base for positively impacting a range of psychological symptoms. We showed it can result in significant decreases in the stress hormone cortisol, and out perform other stress reduction methods.

Why is it important?

Our findings show acupoint tapping as a self applied stress reduction technique, is efficient and effective as a brief treatment for reducing biological markers of stress.

Perspectives

This study was a replication of one done 7 years earlier by different researchers. The outcomes achieved were similar for two of the conditions, but for acupoint tapping it was substantially improved. This replication showed outcomes for both studies are likely due to the actual technique and not due to therapist characteristics.
