What is it about?
Parents are important within youth sport, providing their children with the best opportunities to enjoy sport, and supporting them as they encounter setbacks. However, as a field, we must also help parents. Through holding interviews and focus groups, this study aimed to provide a definition of parental resilience and the personal qualities that assist parental resilience.

Why is it important?
Parents play a central role in youth sport, offering opportunities for their children to enjoy participation and supporting them as they navigate challenges. At the same time, it is important that the field considers how best to support parents themselves. Drawing on interviews and focus groups, this study sought to clarify what parental resilience entails and to identify the personal qualities that contribute to it.
Perspectives
I really enjoyed every aspect of this article. From collecting data and listening to parents’ stories, to developing my findings, to eventually writing up for publication. In the same vein, I hope you enjoy this article, and can draw upon some of its findings to support both yourselves and your children in sport.
