What is it about?

This survey study asked N = 969 laypeople in Germany for their preferences regarding various different characteristics of psychotherapists, for example the gender, levels of experience or political views. Overall, a majority of the participants indicated that they did have a specific preference, except for political views and years of practical experience. However, members of marginalized groups like women, ethnic minorities or religious participants were more likely to prefer a therapist that is similar to them.
