What is it about?

Callous-unemotional traits (or Limited Prosocial Emotions, LPE) are characterized by low empathy, lack of guilt, restricted facial expressions, and low concern about performance. These traits are associated with severe and persistent behavior problems. In this study, we examined the utility and accuracy of the Clinical Assessment of Prosocial Emotions interview, a tool developed to aid diagnosis of LPE in children and adolescents.

Why is it important?

Our findings suggest that the Clinical Assessment of Prosocial Emotions is a reliable and valid tool that can be used to aid in the diagnosis of Limited Prosocial Emotions (LPE). This is the first tool available for clinical psychologists that collects all the information needed to diagnose LPE.
