What is it about?
This paper looks at the characteristics of 246 Early Head Start children and their families. We found that the combination of parents' parenting stress, family functioning, well-being, and social support relate to young children's problem behavior and social skills.

Why is it important?
These findings suggest that supporting positive family functioning and decreasing family stress may help influence children's positive behavior. When Early Head Start and other early care and education programs support families, there may also be benefits for young children and their social skills development.
