What is it about?
Being able to successfully regulate one's emotions is an important socioemotional skill. Emotion regulation can be achieved through a variety of strategies, and while previous research has suggested that certain strategies are either successful or unsuccessful, our study has found that success may depend on other factors. Specifically, people are less successful when they regulate high-intensity emotions across all emotion regulation strategies. Additionally, repeated use of certain strategies impacts success.
