What is it about?

In this study, we compare the effectiveness of different lucid dreaming induction techniques, including phantom wiggling, observing images, and imagining movements. All the techniques are intended to transfer consciousness from wakefulness into a dream. The results indicate that all the techniques analyzed in this study can be used for lucid dreaming induction, especially upon awakening.

Why is it important?

One of the problems in the study and practice of lucid dreams is the insufficient efficiency of induction methods. The most studies, attention is paid primarily to comparing the effectiveness of general approaches of lucid dreams induction while specific mental actions are generally not compared at all in the same samples of participants. This study is important because we compared different specific techniques in combination with different general approaches in lucid dreaming induction.

Perspectives

In the future, we are going to explore and compare all the techniques based on other senses and principles such as vision, hearing, vestibular sensations, auto-suggestion, fear, etc. in combination with general approaches. I hope this study improve our understanding of the nature of lucid dreams and the enthusiasts' own practice.
