Why is it important?

Toddlerhood is an unique, crucial developmental period of high inter-individual variation and rapid acquisitions across several domains of development. Understanding whether foundational skills such as self-regulation and vocabulary develop through separate paths or are intertwined can provide valuable insights to teachers, curricula, and classroom practices.

This study contributes to conceive self-regulation as a core and foundational skill in its own right, alongside language.
